Finished Luke Today

Hello bloggers!

I finished the book of Luke today and found the last passage to be so fulfilling that I cried. It states:

Luke 24:50-53

When He had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, He lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51While He was blessing them, He left them and was taken up into heaven. 52Then they worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.

We can only imagine what it would have been like to be there when He ascended into heaven. We can only imagine what it would be like to be blessed by Him in His presence. However, we all know exactly what it is like to worship Him with Great Joy!

Luke 11:9-11 "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

This passage I have chosen for the blob this week because I am personally struggling with it. Sometimes I struggle with giving my children what they ask for and not just what I think they deserve or need. This is much easier with my youngest because I still feel that I know what she needs and what is best for her, but the older children asks for things that I know they either don't need, should be getting for themselves at this point in their lives, or are just plain trying to take advantage. "Tough Love" is VERY hard for me, and even harder for my husband at times. I also struggle with "teaching" them a lesson, or feeling like I am depriving them of essentials needs.

For this blog....I guess all I am looking for are thoughts on the passage, advice on grown children rearing....etc. Just asking for some help! Thanks and happy blogging!

I had the opportunity tonight to share a little bit of scripture that I found with a struggling friend from my past. It seems that she is hurting for one of her children that is having some tough times right now. This is my 1st time actually being able to pull something from HIS word in hopes of helping someone else. I have always been a good listener and I feel that I am a very true friend to people, but it feels WONDERFUL to share HIS word and HIS wisdom with someone in need.

By the way, this is the scripture that I told her to read....Jeremiah 31:15-17

15This is what the Lord says:
"A voice is heard in Ramah,
mourning and great weeping,
Rachel weeping for her children
and refusing to be comforted,
because her children are no more"

16This is what the Lord says:
"Restrain your voice from weeping
and your eyes from tears,
for your work will be rewarded,"
declares the Lord.
"They will return from the land of the enemy,

17So there is hope for your future
declares the Lord,
"Your children will return to their own land."

I sure hope my friend realizes that praying for our children is the best thing that we can do for them!

Luke 7:33-35

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and interpretations of my last blog! I am SO EXCITED about this blog opportunity to share and learn about HIS word that I couldn't wait until Friday to post my next passage.

Luke 7:33-35 states, 33"For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon' 34The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners."' 35But wisdom is proved right by all her children."


Ok, so back in John 7:18-19 John questions whether Jesus is the "one who was to come or should we expect someone else?" I understand that John was not testing his faith, but was honest about his doubts and wanted confirmation. Then in John 7:31 the Pharisees rejected God's purpose because they weren't baptized by John.

Now for the confusing part for me......John needs confirmation that Jesus is the Messiah, then Pharisees reject God because they weren't baptized by John and then in John:33-35 Jesus is pointing out that both He and John were rejected, SO what does 35"But wisdom is proved right by all her children" mean?

Is Jesus simply stating that with longevity of faith that all "children" will understand and accept?

Luke 4:14-30

I am currently reading the book of LUKE and was confused by this scripture. I am wondering if I don't need to know the stories of Elijah and Elisha in order to fully understand. My confusion is this....I don't understand why the people of Nazareth were so angry. I understand what Luke is stating about the fact that Elijah wasn't sent to the widows and Elisha didn't cleanse the leprosy stricken. I guess I just don't understand why they rejected Jesus so intently. Please give me your views on this passage and maybe we can figure it out together. Thanks!
